Overview:-

I was thinking about the topic, or any story which people haven’t heard yet, and yet inspiring, story, which basically helps GenZ to think about how great our mythology is, the main thing is i didn't found any topic, so i was scraping the Google, but nothing i found, then one day, i was sitting, doing my regular work, and something came in my mind that, many of the people including me didn’t know about the story of the lord parshuram, we know, mahabharat, then we know ramayan, i am reading ramayan now a days like novel story, will make a blog on that also one day. But common many have seen ramayan, but none know about the lord parshuram… so here i am with the lord parshuram story, in my way, i will narrate it to you, i can’t cover the whole story but, i will try to cover the major part of it, so let’s get started…

Chapter 1: "Parshuram banne se pehle woh sirf Rama the..."

यथा बीजं तथा अङ्कुरः।

"Jaisa beej hota hai, vaisa hi ankur (plant) ugta hai."

1. The Problem with Heroes:

Many people think that heroes are born and become legends, in a day they become the legend, but it’s not true, right? So much hidden hardwork, smartwork,etc… are there which eventually lead to the making of them as the legend. And actually there is not only his hardwork, it’s the hard work, decision, curses, ambition of the whole lineage, which eventually lead them to become the legend. So To understand the parshuram ,we have to understand the blood flowing through his vein. 

2. The Beginning — Brahma and Bhrigu:

The lineage of the lord parshuram is too big, like it’s started so many many years ago, it’s lineage, or i can say the whole story start with the lord brahma and rishi bhrigu ( one of the saptarishi),he was the mind-born son of the lord brahma.

But his main importance is not this that he is the son of lord brahma, instead the main importance is the another event…

So, what happened is that, there was the fight going on between the sages, that who is the supreme among, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva?

So to know that, they think that turn by turn, one of us will going to insult them… and according to their reaction we will find out who is the greatest one… but everyone was scared of trinity, there when Rishi Bhrigu came up and volunteered.

First he insulted  Lord Brahma, he became so angry with him.

Then he insulted lord Shiva, he became little furious.

Finally he went to vishnu, and kicked directly on the chest. But instead of getting angry, he asked “Did Your Foot Get Hurt?” (Savage Reply)...

Now you must be thinking why I told you this story, the thing is this story become the foundation of the Bhrigu Lineage.  Because of this the family became famous for:

• Testing authority

• Fearlessness

• Strong opinions

• Extreme personalities

Traits that later explode inside Parshuram.

3. Chyavana — The Sage Who Reversed Aging:

 Before the Lord Parshuram, there was the guy in his lineage, who even challenged his old age, and won against it. 

For him it's a really interesting story, let’s start with the starting. 

So, Chyavana was the son of the Bhrigu and the puloma, Puloma was the rakshasa, people say that she was so obsessed with him.One day what happened, Bhrigu was away from the ashram, and puloma was pregnant at that time. One of the Rakshas arrive in the ashram, he asked agni the truth, that is the puloma is really the wife of Bhrigu, agni said the truth that yes she is, so the Rakshas abducted her, and while carrying her away, the unborn child fell from the womb, as the moment that child touched the ground, a brilliant light emerged, and the Rakshasa burned instantly, because of this incident he got the name as Chyavana.

So while Growing up many of the sage, and mostly everyone wanted 3 thing

1. Knowledge

2. Fame

3. Recognition

But Chyavana wanted none of it, many of the text says that he got absorbed in the  tapasya so extremely that, ant made the anthill on his body, his meditation was not like now a days meditation, happen for 10 min, 21 day challenge etc… he use do for month, years, and even some text suggests centuries… he withdrew the society completely, only his eyes was visible. 

Because of this only he got married to the girl named Sukanya… 

Now comes the Underrated female character of the indian mythology Sukanya…

She was the daughter of the king Sharyati, who was the son of Vaivasvata Manu Lineage.

One day, The king and his family went to the forest, and that young sukanya was wandering here and there, curious, playful…

Suddenly she saw that some 2 things were glowing, she thought it might be fireflies, gems or maybe some strange insect, but instead it was the eyes of Chyavana, she poked them with a thorn, which was a huge mistake, because of this he became blind. Immediately strange things started happening in the army of the king, the soldiers could not urinate, they could not relieve themselves, their bodies started malfunctioning. The entire royal camp suffered, nobody understood why, then later king understood about that, the sage had been injured, and not just any sage, very powerful one.

So the king went to the sage and apologized, and asked how can i cure this, what’s the solution… Finally Chyavana proposed the solution. Sukanya would become his wife, and she willingly accepted that, even though she was young, beautiful etc… while sage was old, blind and all… ( girls learn from this, height, body koi bhi bana leta hai, love them because what they are from inside not just because of their body and money)... 

Finally after many years, Ashwini kumar( Divine Twin Physicians, Gods of Medicine) came they, became very happy from her devotion loyalty, and asked her what she want, should we make the chyavana young again, she accepted that, then ashwini kumar took him to divine lake from that lake 3 chyavana came, she was asked to find the real one, and she succeeded, and Chyavana regains his Youth.

4. Aurva — The Anger Before Parshuram:

   Now it’s time for the one of the most important ancestor:

    Rishi Aurva

His closest ancestor, according to psychology… you will understand why i said this…

So what happened, as you know, brighu’s were rishis they used to do pooja, hawan and all, and for that kings used to give so much of money, gold, cows,lands, etc… during the time flies, their wealth accumulated, and they became pretty rich.. 

Now you will understand the issue, as the time flies, some kings become financially weak, they don’t even have money to run the government, they were kshatriya kings… then they saw the money wealth of the Bhrigu’s, and they asked for money, cows, etc… started threatening them, some gave them directly, some hid their money, and many got killed(woman, man, children)…

Among them there was one woman, who was pregnant, and she was sleeping in her hut, when she came out, she saw the ashram was on fire, so she run towards the jungle, now as she was pregnant, and it was difficult to run with it, so she hid the womb, her fetus in her URU(thigh) , because of this he got the name Aurva, but lately, she got caught, and by forcefully, they took out her fetus from her thigh, and as soon as he came out, a bright light came, and all the soldiers became blind, permanently… and she run with him, towards north side.

Later as he grew up he was hearing the story of massacre, and not only he was hearing he saw them… and slowly slowly this anger started piling into him. It was, we can say, became a generational trauma for him. So he went to himalaya and started doing tapsya, to get the power, knowledge etc…  and slowly slowly, anger was growing and growing against not only the kshatriya but for the whole world, he said i will annihilate the whole world from my tap power…

You know why the entire world? Because rage final form is not only revenge but the distruction…

 His anger got concentrated, and was about to come out, then many gods and his ancestor came in front of him, and try to convince him, they said…

"Hum apni life complete kar chuke the."

"Hum marna chahte the."

"Jo hua uska badla poori duniya se mat lo."

He understood, but his anger didn't vanish, so his ancestor told to throw his anger into the ocean called as (Vadavagni)... you might have heard, that oceans are hot from the ocean bed, and there are active volcanoes etc… it’s because of this… i don’t know how, but they wrote this millions of years ago, and we found out about this some several 50-60 yrs ago… with the new tech if i say… 

These traits Parshuram got from his ancestors.  …

       Bhrigu

Fearlessness

Chyavana

Defiance against aging

↓

Aurva

Inherited rage

5. RISHI RICHIKA — THE MAN WHO ACCIDENTALLY CHANGED HISTORY:

So till now the lineage was like this, brahma-> bhrigu->chyavan->aurva->richika.

If Bhrigu was so fearless, and Chyavan was so determined and Ayurva had so much or rage, then Richika was the intellect, Now the question arise that, Who was Richika?

So the Richika was one of the greatest vedic Rishi of the Bhrigu Lineage. He was extremely advanced in the Yajna, Mantra Vidya, Genetic qualities and the Tapasya. One of the most imp things was he used to think that the gun(merits) which is inside the human, can be influenced, and this makes him one of the most powerful rishi too…

You will understand this now…
So you all must have heard the name of Satyavati, no no she is not the same satyavati, she was the daughter of king Gadhi, who was kshatriya, whose son was Vishvamitra, i know you have heard this name, and use to think he was brahmin, but no, i mean yes he later become bhramarishi, and it also have a mind blowing story, later, or may be some day i will tell you…  

So usually what happened was, brahmin use to marry brahmin, and kshatriya use to marry kshatriya… but here richika asked king Gadhi, that if he can marry the satyavati, now gadhi knows he can’t directly say no to him, he is big and powerful rishi, so he put the condition that…

I have 2 condition:-

"Mujhe 1000 safed ghode chahiye."

"Har ghode ka ek kaan kaala hona chahiye."

Basically he was saying no politely… But richika was richika, he went to varun dev, did tapsya for him, made him happy, and in return got the same horse… king gadhi was in shock, but eventually marriage happened…

Things started getting weird now…  richika’s wife asked for the son, and richika’s mother-in-law also asked for the son… not directly, like you must be thinking… he was rishi na… so he created 2 charu (charu means sacred ritual offering) for satyavati he created brahmin son charu, and for her mother he created for the kshatriya… 

But greediness, satyavati mother, that satyavati is her wife, he must have created more powerful charu for her, and weak for me, so she exchanged the charu, and took her according to the ritual, when richika got to know he became so angry, he said:

"Tumne jo kiya hai uska result generations tak jayega."

Richika said to satyavati, that your son will be brahmin for sure, but his gun will be like kshatriya, and in same way her brother gun will be like brahmin although he will be kshatriya… now satyavati started crying, kshatriya means he will be angry all the time please help me, so he tried to reduce some of the effect, but he won’t able to do it perfectly, so he told that, his son jamdagini will be brahmin, but have traits like kshatriya although i have reduce it but still he will have, his wife will be renuka full kshatriya but will be cool, and have some brahmin trait… and then his son will be parshuram, who will going to change the history…

For her mother he told, she will have the son whose name will be vishwamitra, in starting he will be like a king, but eventually he will become bhramrishi… a brahmin… and that’s how the small things changes the whole world… 

6. Jamadagini & Renuka

Now we have heard the full story of the full lineage, now it’s time to listen the story of the full lineage of the of lord Parshu ram, now it’s time for the story of the his father rishi, or i can say maharishi Jamdagini, usually in most of the blogs, he just described as the father of the ram(future Parshu ram), but he is more than that, he was the combination of both knowledge and power. As you know, the prediction of the richik that he will have the traits of kshatriya even though he will be Brahmin… 

Now let’s talk about his mother  Renuka, as expected, she was also from the royal family. It’s the same situation like richika and satyawati. But unlike other kshatriya striya, she was calm, loyal and knowledgeable, she was not some ordinary girl, she had some immense, intense spiritual purity, she used to wake up early, and go to the river near by, and make the pot(ghada) from the kacchi mitti, and use to take water in it. Now according to the science it is not possible, but according to mythology, it says that it’s the power of her tapasya, concentration, loyalty.

Now remember this thing, because this will be the thing which will change the life of lord parshuram… (from ram to parshuram journey)

And to hear that part wait for the next blog, this blog is already too big. In the next blog we will explore the full story of lord parshuram, for his birth of ram to become the parshuram, till the kalki story… 

Bonus Story:

Now we have talked about so many rishi, now it’s time to talk about one   interesting story from the Valmiki’sramayan, which i bet, you haven't heard it…
It was the time when in the jungle Young lord ram, laxman and maharishi vishwamitra was roaming, and going to wards the janakpuri, land of janak(sita’s father), so in between they saw an Ashram, which was looking in so bad condition that no one use to go in, cause it was cursed, so lord ram asked vishwamitra that what’s the story about it… Vishwamitra start by saying this that, there was the rishi named Gawtam, he use to do so harsh tapasya, he was married to the girl name ahilya, now one day rishi went to his daily work/practice, and ahilya was at home alone, suddenly she heard a knock, and saw that rishi came back, (spoiler alert he was not the rishi). So rishi came in they talked a little, spend the quality time had sex, now it was already afternoon, so ahilya said to rishi, please leave my husband is about to came, cause that was not his real husband he was indra who took his disguise and came to have sex (fact: you know indra is not the name of dev or person, it’s the name of position, so many indra have come and gone, it’s like you can think of as prime minister, right now purbandar is the one who is sitting on the indra throne), so he was about to leave, and as soon as he opened the gate of the hut, he saw the real gawtam rishi was standing in front of him, he understood immediately, and he gave curse to the indra that , from now on, you can’t have sex ever, and immediately your balls will cut of from your body, and as soon as he said that, indra’s balls detached from his body and fell on ground, and then he gave curse to ahilya for cheating, cause she use to know that he is not real rishi still she had sex with him, just to please the indra, and he became stone, until lord ram touched her…

 

Now indra went to swarg again, and asked his minister to again attach the balls to his body, so they went to the lord brahma who first scold the indra and then told other minister to attach the goat, balls to his body, and since then goats balls are hanging for the indra’s body.

And there is one more interesting story about vishwamitra, journey from khatriya to brahmrishi, which we will cover in some another story…
